The latest news from Coach Jeff

King’s College Hospital RFC’s new coach Jeff McGann is looking forward to overseeing his first home game at Turney Road this weekend.

He’ll be expecting the team to carry on its strong form from pre-season and the first away game to secure a first home win in this Saturday’s league and cup double against Faversham.

Jeff, an experienced coach with a previous stint at Dartford, joined King’s during pre-season. He has added new structure and bite to King’s game-plan, securing buy-in from new joiners and old hands alike.

He has built on the work of the existing coaching team to deliver high tempo, high quality training sessions. And it’s no surprise to have seen training numbers increase since he has joined, as the squad all start to benefit through the enhanced structure.

The work in training is clearly paying off on the pitch, given the pre-season win over Millwall and last week’s triumph over Hastings & Bexhill.

Talking before the game, Jeff said:

“I’ve been very impressed with the commitment and buy-in we’ve seen from all the players. The hard work in training is helping us deliver on the pitch. We had a comfortable win over Millwall in pre-season and last week put down a real statement with our convincing win over Hastings to open up the league campaign.

“I’m really proud to be involved in a club celebrating 150 years in rugby. Hopefully we can do ourselves justice in the league and cup to celebrate this year in style.

“The club has made me feel so welcome and it feels like I’ve been coaching here forever. The future is bright. The future is King’s.”
