Fighting 2s go down to well-drilled Beckenham side

Match report from Swollen Fingers Crash
The Glorious 2s played host to a top of the table Beckenham V team, who turned up early and hugely mob handed. Kings had struggled with numbers this week and so started the game with no forward subs but with determination and a stiff upper lip.
Kings tackled the sizeable opposition well from the off, but it wasn't long before Beckenham scored. For much of the half this continued, with Kings playing into the hands of Beckenham by over committing to the ruck and not making our faster back count. The set piece also proved to be a challenge, Kings getting bossed in the scrum and struggling to find consistency in the line out.
Beckenham, kept the scoreboard ticking along the first half and Kings were unable to summon a score. Half time 0-28.
The second half saw Kings come back with renewed vigour and the Beckenham forwards beginning to tire. Helped by a broken down car and by Skidog coming in at 10. Never the less it was they who scored first.
A knee injury to our 3 (Ricco F-S) and lack of subs saw the scrums go uncontested.
Kings finally chalked up a try mid way through the second half. A 4 ball was thrown from the line out and although the ball wasn't taken cleanly in was knocked down into the hands of the mobile 2 jumper Xav Keenan. Xav produced a scything run to get us away from their lolloping forwards and able to interplay with our backs. A couple of quick phases saw a clever run from Will Kelly and that try we so desperately needed.
Beckenham produced another try and the game looked killed off, but Kings couldn't have it. The last play of the game was called and Kings earned a penalty in the ruck, deep in the Beckenham half. Running was the only option and run we did, Kings battering forward and up to the Beckenham line. Two more phases pounded the line before our mighty captain channelled the Brown Bull of Cooley and crashed over for the try and the end of the game.
