Rugby Force hits King’s

Drilling, sand, paint and barbecues

A big crowd of Kingsmen, Kingswomen, Pirates and guests were to be found at Turney Road today, helping to get the ground ready for next season.

Thanks to the RFU and Natwest Rugby Force the club received some much needed investment to improve the pitch and give the changing rooms a new lick of paint.

An intrepid crew gathered on Sunday morning ready to get stuck in. Following some inspiring words from Chariman Marc Avery team split into different crews to sort out the playing shed, paint the changing rooms and tackle the pitch.

This latter task required drilling some big holes in the pitch to fill in with sand, and forcing sand into some of the cracks across the pitch to hopefully improve the drainage for next season.

Following a good day’s work, the team all replenished with a barbecue and a few beers in the sun.

Thanks to everyone for all their hard work. And especially thanks to the RFU and Rugby Force for their support – including the donation of a new defibrillator to host at the club (which the KIPIRS are bound to need sooner or later).
